Chapter 22
SETH, CHANNELED BY JANE ROBERTS
Seth is the acclaimed non-physical teacher whose collected works form the most dynamic, brilliant, and undistorted map of inner reality and human potential available today. His articulation of the furthest reaches of human potential, the eternal validity of the soul, and the concept that we create our own reality according to our beliefs, has been presented in books that have sold over 8 million copies and been translated into more than a dozen languages. Seth’s empowering voice clearly stands out as one of the major forces that led to the current New Age philosophical movement. Below are some of the key titles.
The Seth Material, by Jane Roberts. This book chronicles Seth’s first contact with author and medium Jane Roberts. It is a mixture of great Seth excerpts, selected by topic and further explained by Jane. Topics include: after-death and between-lives states, reincarnation, how to get rid of illness, why people are born into different circumstances, God, All That Is, dreams, exercises to develop the inner senses, and much more.
The Nature of Personal Reality: Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know, by Jane Roberts. This is one of my very favorite Seth books. Seth teaches us that we are not at the mercy of the subconscious; the conscious mind directs unconscious activity and has at its command all the powers of the inner self. This book shows readers how to improve health, create material success, and make relationships more satisfying. As one reader writes: “Do you know how there are some moments so magical in your life that you wish you could go back and live them over? That’s how I feel about The Nature of Personal Reality. Honestly, I don’t know how many times I’ve read this book cover to cover. Such is the amazing impact it has had on me and my view of the world.”
Seth, Dreams and Projections of Consciousness, by Jane Roberts. This is my all-time favorite book on out-of-body experiences — a must-have for any Seth junkie. An incredibly exciting book, providing essential instructions and information for those interested in working with dreams and out-of-body experiences. Every time I read a Seth book, I have to put it down periodically, breathe deeply, and stare off into space; his words hit the deepest part of your Self and always ring true. I challenge anyone to read any of the Seth books and not be changed by it. You will view yourself, and everyone around you, differently. Nothing is random; everything happens for a reason. You are in control of your life and every aspect of it. You create your own reality. There is nothing to worry about. Life is fun — get out there and enjoy it, both in and out of body.
Seth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul, by Jane Roberts. One of the most powerful of the Seth books, this essential guide to conscious living clearly and powerfully articulates the furthest reaches of human potential, and the concept that we all create our own reality according to our individual beliefs. Having withstood the test of time, it is still considered one of the most dynamic and brilliant maps of inner reality available. From a reader: “The title of this book should be changed to The Bible of Metaphysics. It is, without a doubt, that good.”
The Nature of the Psyche: Its Human Expression, by Jane Roberts. Here Seth outlines a new concept of the self, and tells of the secret language of love, the inner reality that exists apart from time, and how people choose their own physical death — sometimes years in advance. It also covers human sexuality as it relates to the private and mass psyche, and explains how distorted beliefs about sexuality can hold back spiritual progress.
A Seth Reader, by Jane Roberts. In 1963, Jane Roberts — an intelligent and somewhat skeptical writer and college graduate — began to receive a series of communications from “an energy essence personality” who called himself Seth. Psychic investigator Richard Roberts has chosen, from some 3,000 pages, the most thought-provoking and helpful of Seth’s words, from eight Seth books ranging from The Seth Material (1970) to the last, Dreams, “Evolution,” and Value Fulfillment (1986). Among the topics: the nine “families of consciousness,” the evolution of Earth and its creatures, how thoughts form reality, how we create our lives from the dream state, the illusion of time, simultaneous incarnations, “probable” alternate selves, unknown realities, the three “Christs,” and the eternal validity of the soul.
The “Unknown” Reality, Volumes 1 and 2, by Jane Roberts. In Volume One, Seth initiates a journey in which the familiar seems to be left behind: Where do the events of our lives begin or end? Where do we fit into them, individually and as members of the species? In Volume Two, Seth invites us to discover the unknown reality for ourselves, through a series of exercises geared to illuminate the inner structures upon which our exterior ones depend.
Dreams, “Evolution,” and Value Fulfillment, Volumes 1 and 2, by Jane Roberts. In Volume One, Seth describes a conscious, self-aware universe where possibilities and potentials generate life-forms, answering crucial questions about the significance of his thought system. This reissued volume features notes by Jane Roberts’s husband, Robert F. Butts. In Volume Two, Seth continues his explanation of how the physical world is an ongoing self-creation — how the human species keeps within its genetic bank millions of characteristics that might be needed in various contingencies, and how the soul employs both handicaps and advantages as springboards for further achievement.
The Magical Approach: Seth Speaks About the Art of Creative Living, by Jane Roberts. Seth invites us to look at the world through another lens — a magical one — revealing the true, magical nature of our deepest levels of being, and explaining how we have allowed it to become inhibited by our own beliefs and conventional thinking. The Magical Approach teaches us to live our lives spontaneously, creatively, and according to our own natural rhythms. As Marianne Williamson, author of A Return to Love, put it: “Seth was one of my first metaphysical teachers. He remains a constant source of knowledge and inspiration in my life.”
