Chapter 20
SATHYA SAI BABA
What first caught my attention about Sai Baba was a book titled Sai Baba and the Psychiatrist. What convinced me the most, however, was meeting Johnima and Kalassu, two followers of Sai Baba who lived with him for over twenty years. They recently wrote a book titled Reclaiming Your Divinity — perhaps the best description ever written on the subject of who we are, what we are, where we came from, and, most important, where we are going. It is a very practical book on how to live life moment by moment, and, best of all, it is written in very clear, understandable English.
Sathya Sai Baba is a living Avatar who presently lives in India. He is known worldwide for his ability to manifest many things — food, candies, jewelry, even micro weather-storms with lightning and rain. There are accounts of these feats from peasants to kings; I have personally heard some of them firsthand, from very credible, mature, and psychologically stable people.

How should you spend your time? Sai Baba gives very simple advice on how to spend each day. He says: spend a third on your personal tasks — work and personal needs, such as cooking, buying food, and earning a living; a third improving yourself — meditation, study, attending spiritual group activities, and so on; and a third helping others — teaching, helping children or elders, or even writing a book such as this one. For my part, I have rearranged my life to follow this rule, and it has helped my quality of life tremendously. Once more, I have done what others consider impossible, yet I have accomplished it.
The best book I have found so far about Sai Baba’s teachings is A Compendium of the Teachings of Sathya Sai Baba — over 700 pages, covering 1,100 subjects. www.saitowers.com — ISBN 81-86822-19-4.
