TransAmazonia is an ambitious project to connect the rivers in Ecuador and her neighbors to the main artery of the Amazon River. This is proposed to be done by drilling under the mountainous terrain that currently prevents access to create a new waterway that will open up access to the Atlantic Ocean via the mightly Amazon River.
The benefits of such a waterway will be enjoyed by many countries in this region: Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Columbia with increased commerce between these nations.
TRANSAMAZONIA is committed to being ecologically responsible. It is a sad fact that the oil cartels are intent on exploiting this region for their own profit, at the expense of destroying the rainforest. However, if TransAmazonia is able to go forward with this project, we intend to ensure that the natural habitat of the region is protected, and we will institute responsible and sustainable guidelines for the use of the waterway as a matter of law.
